Government Open Source Software Policy Training Seminar conducted as part of the Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Open Security Technology (HOST) Program

The purpose of the HOST Government Open Source Software Policy Training Seminar is to provide information on existing government guidance and adoption strategies for Federal Government acquisition, procurement, adoption and management of open source software resources.
The seminar will be led by Dr. David A. Wheeler of the Institute for Defense Analysis and is held in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Open Security Technology (HOST) program (http://www.cyber.st.dhs.gov/host/ ).
Seminar Objectives:
• Identify and explain existing government open source software policy and guidance decisions
• Review HOST-sponsored Best Practices and Lessons Learned study regarding open source adoption within government environments
• Review examples of government regulation (FAR/DFAR) that impact adoption decisions for open source software
• Identify available open source software resources available to government adopters
Recommended Attendees:
• Civilian, Defense and private sector representatives who work with government software acquisition, legal & policy and management issues are encouraged to attend
