OSSI is a non-profit organization supported by annual dues and special program funding provided by OSSI members, grants and personal donations.
There are many benefits to becoming a supporting member of OSSI. These benefits include:
* Representation on the OSSI Advisory Boards and Committees
* Leadership position in OSSI's efforts to promote
open-source software
* Participation in OSSI special programs, R&D
efforts, policy consortium meetings
* Inclusion in OSSI media and press releases

Levels of Membership
OSSI offers three classes of active membership and one class of supportive/associate membership:
1. Corporate
2. Governmental Agency
3. Academic Institution
4. Associate
Corporate Members include business entities engaged in the production, manufacturing, support, development, or sale of open source software or other non-profit organizations that are directly involved in the support, development and promotion of open source software and related products.
Annual Corporate
Membership Dues: $5,000
Cornerstone Corporate Membership Dues: $25,000+

Governmental Agency Members include nonprofit entities affiliated with state, local or federal governments that have been formed to support the development or promotion of the use of technology or have an interest in supporting the purposes and activities of the OSSI.
Annual Governmental Agency Membership Dues: $1,000

Academic Institution Members include colleges, universities and other academic institutions or higher learning that have an interest in supporting the purposes and activities of OSSI.
Annual Academic Agency Membership Dues: $1,000

Associate Membership includes individuals or entities who wish to associate with OSSI and support our efforts with a donation.

The OSSI has the right to appoint members of the Open-Source Community to serve on its Advisory Board.
