Trade Association

The Midwest is a growth area for OSSI. Many OSSI sponsors and members travel to and focus on the National Capital Region. OSSI plans to expand operations in the Midwest in late  2013.

OSSI is very active in the National Capital Region. Centered in the Baltimore-Washington area, OSSI is actively engaged in ongoing dialog with numerous government agencies including:

• DHS - Department of Homeland Security
• DoD - Department of Defense (Army, Navy, AIr Force, USMC, DISA and other agencies)
• NSA - National Security Agency
• NGA - National Geospatial Intelligence Agency
• NIST - National Institute of Standards and Technology
• OSD - Office of the Secretary of Defense
• JCS - Joint Chiefs of Staff

OSSI's monthly meetings are held near Fort Meade at locations contributed by our members. Meetings are regularly held in Hanover, MD or Columbia, MD. Our events attract a technical audience of decision makers who engage in challenging dialogue, idea exchanges and networking. OSSI plans on expanding its regular schedule of monthly meetings to include sessions in Northern Virginia. If you have meeting space (meeting attendance typically ranges from 20 to100 people) and are interested in sharing it with the Open Source Software community, please contact us as soon as possible.

The Northeast is home to several OSSI sponsors and members however their efforts are currently focused on the National Capital Region. OSSI would like to start a group in the Northeast in early 2013.

This is where it all began for OSSI. Started and run by founder John Weathersby, the South is still home to OSSI Headquarters and the hub of activities including:

• Open Source Advocacy
• Research and Development Facilitation
• Strategic Integration of Open Source
